et Ready to Social Dance - Wednesdays

Our new courses starting 7 September will focus on ‘Getting Ready to Social Dance’. These 6-week courses will give you the skills to enjoy social dance events through:

·   Mastering your own movement

·   Improving your dance vocabulary

·   Improving your leading and following skills

The most effective ways to hone your partner dancing skills are:

Mastering your own movement- if you’re not in control of your own movement and coordination, this affects your dance partner.

Improving your dance vocabulary-this means learning as many moves as you can BEFORE you partner up. That way, you’ll have the confidence to dance with dancers of different levels when social dancing is back again.

Improving your leading and following skills-this can be done with ‘shadow dancing,’ where no physical contact is needed. Often, dancers over-rely on physical contact to help them lead or follow and this can affect the flow of the dance.

Do you want to be confident with all of this and more?

Get yourself back into the swing of things for the social dancing come back with our next course which starts 7th September.

Here’s What You Get During the Classes:

·   Get warmed up and ready with the Shim Sham as you start sprinkling in variations and building your improv skills

·   Polish one chunk of the Tranky Doo and start using the vocabulary for social dancing

Here’s What You Get In Between the Classes:

·   access to online dance tuition videos so you can watch and practise at your leisure

·   access to DJ Andy’s Music Webinar so you can deepen your understanding of swing music and see how easy it is to dance with more musical understanding with a little push in the right direction

Who is this course suitable for?
·   If you have some experience of the Tranky Doo but your memory of some of the moves or some of the sections is a bit inconsistent, this course is designed for you.

·   If you want to find out how your skills developed through the Shim Sham & Tranky Doo can be used for social dancing and improvising, this course is designed for you.

·   If you want to take the guesswork out of dancing to swing music so that you can social dance with confidence when there are irregular patterns in the music such as breaks, solos, bridges, intros, endings, instrumentals, and general ‘twiddly’ bits, this course is designed for you.
