ABOUT LINDY JAZZ
Who we are
Connection. Companionship. Community.
Lindy Jazz started in 2007 with a vision. We wanted to bring people together and share our love of dance and Swing music with as many people as possible.
Dance can change your life in so many ways. It can help you keep fit, make friends, and feel alive.
Whether you’re an experienced dancer or you’re the first to say you have two left feet, you’re always guaranteed lots of fun and a very warm welcome.

All these years later, that’s still why we believe so strongly in our dance classes and why we run Lindy Jazz the way we do. You don’t need rhythm. You don’t need a partner. You don’t need to be “good at dancing”.
You just need a little curiosity and a willingness to give it a go.
If you’ve ever thought “I should do some exercise” but haven’t found anything that feels right…
If you love music but don’t know what to do with that love…
If you’d like something sociable, joyful, and surprisingly confidence-building…
Learning to dance with us, might just surprise you.
OUR MUSIC
Creating magical moments in your dancing
We pride ourselves not only on using the music that most suits the dance, but on using the best of the old swing music - the music that kept people dancing for hours on end, for night after night.
Legendary artists like Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Jimmie Lunceford, Chick Webb, Louis Armstrong, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman Cab Calloway are among the nearly endless list of artists who helped make the Swing Era one of the biggest musical revolutions in history.

"Just a note to say thanks to you and your dancers for Friday night - all the feedback tells me it was rockin' in there!"

what people say
Liz Ritson, Exhibitions and Events Officer, Woodhorn QEII Country Park
"Woodhorn booked Lindy-Jazz to perform on August Bank Holiday Monday as our major exhibition at the time was about Northumberland during WWII. The period music and dancing displays brought the exhibition theme and the museum site to life in a fun, friendly and accessible way. Lindy-Jazz were very professional to work with, and I would recommend them wholeheartedly. We were particularly impressed with how the group engaged with our visitors, spending time chatting with them about the music and dancing alongside their impressive performances."
