Venue: St Aidan's Church Hall, Framwellgate Moor, Durham

This workshop is suitable for dancers who are new to Balboa as well as dancers who wish to consolidate the all-important basics. This workshop that will give you the essential fundamentals of Balboa and to help us acquire the necessary skills in order to participate and enjoy international Balboa workshops.

You will come away from this progressive and fun-filled workshop knowing how the fundamental moves and techniques look like, feel and what they are called.


Gillian has been dancing Lindy Hop for 4 years and Blues and Balboa for 2. Having grown up with a love of swing music she wanted to learn to dance to it so prompted by a flyer she took two left feet along to Lindy Jazz one evening in 2007 to give dancing a try.  Little did she realise that she would become totally hooked.  She travels to workshops and exchanges all over the country to improve her skills and be inspired by other dancers. She is a member of the Lindy Jazz teaching team for all 4 venues as well as DJam - an international swing dance weekend. As if this is not enough to keep her from mischief, she is also a member of All that Jazz performance group.  She teaches the monthly Balboa class in Durham with Andy Lewis.  Her second love is cake-making and she has plenty of opportunity to combine the two as swing dancing and cake go hand in hand!
