Jives Aces gig in Newcastle
31st January 2007
The Jive Aces, that renowned swing and jive band, will be coming to
play in Newcastle on the 17th February. The venue is the Space,
Newcastle College, Rye Hill Campus, Scotswood Road, Newcastle upon
Tyne NE4 7SA. This is a modern building, converted one year ago from
a concert hall, with a full lighting rig, bar, DJ booth, large sprung
wooden dance floor, and a huge free car park immediately outside it.
It's close to the International Centre for Life. This place will jump
to the beat as the Jive Aces pump out their swinging sounds.
The zoot-suited six-piece is one of the hardest-working bands in the
land. Almost constantly on tour, the bandsmen sweat to entertain
dancers with their music and antics. See them duel with trumpet and
trombone amidst the audience, while the bassist stands on his bass and
keeps plucking away. Expect manic keyboard solos and sweet clarinet.
Don't miss this opportunity to dance in Newcastle, nor to hear a top
professional band. Tickets are available in advance from Nikolas
Lloyd (0191) 284 1353 for £10 (£8 student concession) or on the door
for £12/£9. Doors open 7.30 p.m. on the night. Dancing until 1 a.m.
